Special Conditions: Boeing Model 777-200 Series Airplanes; Overhead Crew Rest Compartment

These special conditions are issued for the Boeing Model 777- 200 series airplanes, modified by Flight Structures, Inc. The modification consists of the installation of a crew rest compartment located in the vicinity of door three in the overhead area of the passenger compartment. The crew rest compartment is to be certified for a maximum of ten occupants for use only during flight. The applicable airworthiness regulations do not contain adequate or appropriate safety standards for this design feature. These special conditions contain the additional safety standards that the Administrator considers necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to that established by the existing airworthiness standards.
