## Abstract

This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Airbus Model A300 and A300-600 series airplanes, that currently requires repetitive inspections to detect cracks in Gear Rib 5 of the main landing gear (MLG) attachment fittings at the lower flange, and repair, if necessary. That AD also requires modification of Gear Rib 5 of the MLG attachment fittings, which constitutes terminating action for the repetitive inspections. This amendment expands the current inspection area for certain airplanes. This amendment is prompted by issuance of mandatory continuing airworthiness information by a foreign civil airworthiness authority. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent fatigue cracking of the MLG attachment fittings, which could result in reduced structural integrity of the airplane.
