Special Conditions: Boeing Model 777-200 Series Airplanes; Overhead Crew Rest Compartments

These amended special conditions are issued for Boeing Model 777-200 series airplanes. Final special conditions; request for comments, No. 25-216-SC were issued on October 3, 2002, addressing this installation. Comments were received and these amended special conditions address those comments. These airplanes, modified by Flight Structures Inc., will have a novel or unusual design feature associated with the installation of an overhead flight crew rest compartment. The applicable airworthiness regulations do not contain adequate or appropriate safety standards for this design feature. These amended special conditions contain the additional safety standards that the Administrator considers necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to that established by the existing airworthiness standards.
