The FAA amends the regulations governing airworthiness standards for transport category airplanes concerning: electrical equipment; nickel cadmium battery installation and storage; electrical cables; design and installation of electronic equipment; and fire protection of electrical system components. Adoption of these amendments eliminates significant regulatory differences between the airworthiness standards of the U.S. and the Joint Aviation Requirements of Europe, without affecting current industry design practices.
