Airworthiness Directives; Airbus Model A300-600 Series Airplanes

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to all Airbus Model A300-600 series airplanes, that requires repetitive inspections to detect cracks in the bottom skin of the wing in the area of the cut out for the pylon rear attachment fitting, and repair, if necessary. This amendment is prompted by a report indicating that, during full-scale fatigue testing, a crack was found in the bottom skin of the wing at the cut out for the aft pylon attachment fitting due to fatigue-related stress. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent such fatigue-related cracking, which could result in reduced structural integrity of the wing.
