## Abstract

This amendment revises the standards for maximum allowable carbon dioxide (CO<INF>2) concentration in occupied areas of transport category airplanes by reducing the maximum allowable concentration from 3 percent to 0.5 percent. This action is in response to a recommendation from the National Academy of Sciences to review the CO<INF>2 limit in airplane cabins, and provides a cabin CO<INF>2 concentration level representative of that recommended by some authorities for buildings.
