Abstract
These special conditions are being issued to become part of the type certification basis for the Sino Swearingen Aircraft Company Model SJ30-2 airplane. This new airplane will have novel and unusual design features not addressed in the airworthiness standards for normal, utility, acrobatic, and commuter category airplanes. These design features include a high operating altitude (49,000 feet), swept wings and stabilizer, performance characteristics, large fuel capacity, and protection for the electronic engine control and flight and navigation systems from high intensity radiated fields, for which the applicable regulations do not contain adequate or appropriate airworthiness standards. These special conditions contain the additional airworthiness standards that the Administrator considers necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to that existing in the current business jet fleet and expected by the user of this class of aircraft.
