Docket No. 97-NM-330-AD

Abstract

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain de Havilland Model DHC-8-301, -311, -314, and - 315 series airplanes, that requires installation of additional wiring and new electrical connectors for the lights in the forward end of the passenger overhead compartments. This amendment is prompted by issuance of mandatory continuing airworthiness information by a foreign civil airworthiness authority. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent severe overheating of the electrical connectors for the lights in the forward end of the passenger overhead compartments, which could result in smoke and fire in the passenger cabin.
