## Abstract

This amendment to the airworthiness standards for transport category airplanes adds a new design standard that requires that the airplane be designed to withstand main landing gear maximum braking forces during ground operations. This amendment will ensure that the landing gear and fuselage are capable of withstanding the dynamic loads associated with the maximum dynamic braking condition. It also relieves a burden on industry by eliminating differences between the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and European Joint Aviation Requirements (JAR), while maintaining a level of safety provided by the current regulations and industry practices.
