Revision of Gate Requirements for High-Lift Device Controls

This action amends the airworthiness standards for transport category airplanes to revise the requirements concerning gated positions on the control used by the pilot to select the position of an airplane's high-lift devices. The FAA is taking this action to update the current standards to take into account the multiple configurations of the high-lift devices provided on current airplanes to perform landings and go-around maneuvers. This final rule also harmonizes these standards with those being adopted by the European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA).
