Plans collectively hold over $30 TRILLION in assets — the largest single pool of money tracked by federal data. Each filing: plan name + plan number, sponsor (legal employer) name + EIN + DBA + full address + business code, plan administrator (often a third-party admin), plan effective date, pension-benefit codes (2A=401(k), 2B=Defined Benefit, 2E=ESOP, 2T=Cash Balance hybrid), welfare-benefit codes (4A=Health, 4B=Dental, 4D=Life, 4I=Long-Term Care, 4S=HRA), funding source (insurance / trust / general assets), participation counts (total/active/retired/beneficiaries/with-balance), schedule attachments (Sch H = audited financials, Sch C = service-provider compensation incl. auditor + investment advisor fees).
