FHFA House Price Index — federal house-price series for every US geography

Dataset · Federal Housing Finance Agency · primary source ↗

The canonical US federal house-price index (repeat-sales) as one queryable API instead of ~30 inconsistent spreadsheets. 184,807 index observations across 472 geographies — national, the nine census divisions, all states, and every metro (MSA/CBSA) — from 1975 to 2026, in three flavors (purchase-only, all-transactions, expanded-data) at monthly and quarterly frequency. Search any place and pull its full appreciation history (index base 100 = the series start; 250 means +150%). Pure aggregate statistic — zero PII. Canonical /house-price-index/{place_id} page per geography. From FHFA bulk (key-free).
