## Abstract

DEA is soliciting information from the affected industry, Medicare/Medicaid agencies, insurance providers, state regulatory agencies and other interested parties regarding preventing accumulation of controlled substances at long term care facilities (LTCFs). Because of current prescription reimbursement practices by Medicaid and Medicare, excess controlled substances often accumulate at LTCFs as patient medication requirements change. DEA is soliciting comments on proposed alternative solutions, as well as seeking other alternatives to prevent the accumulation of excess controlled substances at LTCFs.
