Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance

This final common rule provides for the enforcement of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as amended ("Title IX"), by the agencies identified above. Title IX prohibits recipients of Federal financial assistance from discriminating on the basis of sex in education programs or activities. The promulgation of these Title IX regulations will provide guidance to recipients of Federal financial assistance who administer education programs or activities. The provisions of this common rule will also promote consistent and adequate enforcement of Title IX by the agencies identified above.
