## Abstract

This interim final rule provides guidance to the Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) implementing the National Defense Authorization Act in Fiscal Year 1995, which provides for elected School Boards in DoD DDESS. Pursuant to this legislation, school boards in DoD DDESS may participate in the development and oversight of fiscal, personnel, and educational policies, procedures, and programs for these schools. This interim final rule provides guidance outlining the responsibilities, operating procedures, composition, electorate and election procedures for the DoD DDESS school boards.
