On November 5, 1998, NHTSA published a final rule that amended Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 221, School Bus Body Joint Strength (49 CFR 571.221), and announced an effective date of May 5, 2000 for those amendments. This document delays the effective date of that final rule until May 5, 2001. This document also makes a technical amendment by correcting a technical error in that final rule.
