## Abstract

This document responds to petitions for reconsideration of the final rule that adopted a new, more advanced 6-year-old child dummy (HIII-6C). That final rule was published January 13, 2000 (65 FR 2059, Docket No. NHTSA-99-6714). Adopting the dummy was the first step toward using the dummy to evaluate the safety of air bags for children. The petitions are granted in part and denied in part.
