## Abstract

This document amends the Federal lighting standard for motor vehicle turn signal lamps, stop lamps, taillamps, and parking lamps to increase compatibility with the requirements of the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) and to improve visibility of these lamps. Manufacturers will be permitted to comply with either the existing requirements or the new requirements for a period of between seven to 10 years, depending on vehicle type, at which time they will be required to comply with the new requirements. This action completes rulemaking that implemented the grant of a petition for rulemaking submitted by the Groupe de Travail Bruxelles 1952.
