Abstract
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is amending its fire protection regulations to remove the requirement that fire barrier penetration seal materials be noncombustible, and to make other minor changes. The final rule removes a requirement that has a negligible contribution to safety and includes editorial changes designed to meet the intent of the Presidential memorandum dated June 1, 1998, entitled, "Plain Language in Government Writing."
