Abstract
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is amending its regulations to permit applicants for operator and senior operator licenses to fulfill a portion of the required experience prerequisites by manipulating a plant-referenced simulator as an alternative to manipulation of the controls of the actual nuclear power plant. This change, along with other amendments contained in this rule, takes advantage of improvements in simulator technology and reduces unnecessary regulatory burden on licensees.
