Abstract

In accordance with the memorandum of January 20, 2001, from the Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, entitled "Regulatory Review Plan," published in the Federal Register on January 24, 2001 (66 FR 7702), DOE temporarily delayed for 60 days (66 FR 8745, February 2, 2001) the effective date of the final rule entitled "Energy Conservation Program for Consumer Products; Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps Energy Conservation Standards published in the Federal Register on January 22, 2001 (66 FR 7170). DOE today gives notice of further postponement of the effective date of the January 22, 2001, final rule pending the outcome of petitions by the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) for reconsideration by DOE and for judicial review by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
