## Abstract

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is amending its regulations applicable to decommissioning funding assurance and the expiration and termination of licenses for nonreactor licensees. These amendments clarify requirements that financial assurance must be in place during licensed operations and updated when the licensee decides to cease operations and begin decommissioning. These regulations require that licensees who have been in timely renewal since the promulgation of the earlier decommissioning funding rule or who have ceased operation without having adequate decommissioning funding arrangements in place must provide the NRC with certification of adequate financial assurance for decommissioning by the effective date of this rule.
