## Abstract

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is amending its regulations to provide added flexibility in procuring commercial grade items for safety-related service by nuclear power plant licensees. This action provides the requirements for the procurement of basic components, which will be procured initially as commercial grade items with subsequent dedication for safety-related service, in a manner that avoids unnecessary delay and expense while maintaining an adequate level of plant safety.
