## Abstract

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is denying requests for rehearing of Order No. 587-B (62 FR 5521, Feb. 6, 1997). Order No. 587-B incorporated by reference standards promulgated by the Gas Industry Standards Board requiring interstate pipelines to exchange data necessary to conduct certain business transactions across the Internet according to protocols established in the standards. The format for the data was adopted by the Commission in Order No. 587. 61 FR 39053 (Jul. 26, 1996). The order clarifies pipelines' obligations in implementing the standards.
