Abstract
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or Commission) is amending its regulations to certify the AP600 standard plant design under Subpart B of 10 CFR part 52. This action is necessary so that applicants or licensees intending to construct and operate an AP600 design may do so by referencing this regulation [AP600 design certification rule (DCR)]. The applicant for certification of the AP600 design was Westinghouse Electric Company LLC (hereinafter referred to as Westinghouse).
