The Lower Bench Water & Sewer District is a consecutive system (with a combined distribution system) of the Bridger Valley Joint Powers Board water system. On 5/19/2008, the Bridger Valley Joint Powers Board was shut down dur to an inability to produce water below the 0.3 Nephelometric Turbidity Unit finished water turbidity limit. The system ran out of water in the storage tanks. This led to a loss of pressure in the Lower Bendh Water & Sewer District's distribution system. This may cause a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks or joints in the distribution system. Backsiphonage is also a condition resulting from low or no pressure. Such system failures carry a high potential that fecal contamination or other disease causing organisms could enter the distribution system.
