This action concerns the Grand Street Mercury Site, which was the former location of a lighting manufacturing facility, once owned and operated by General Electric. Mercury contamination was found at the Site, and EPA has unreimbursed response costs relating to response actions performed at the Site by EPA. The relief requested is recovery of unreimbursed past costs of approximately $19.3 million. GE is currently performing several elements of the remedial action for the Site, as well as providing site security, pursuant to two unilateral
administrative orders issued in 1997 and 1998.
