EPA has determined the proposed penalty of $132,966 against the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority concerning the Jardines Metropolitanos Wastewater Collection System (an appurtenance of the Puerto Nuevo Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant). The violations taking into account in the complaint are: the failire to provide proper Operation and Maintenance (O&M) to the Jardines Metropolitanos Wastewater Collection System, the unlawful discharges of untreated sewage (wastewater) and not reporting instances of non-compliance, in violation of the facility's National Pollutant Discharge Eliminations System ( NPDES ) Permit (PR0021555) and Section 301(a) of the Act, 33 U.S.C. �1311. The violations taken in the Complaint occurred within the period of March 1999 and March 2003.
