On or about 8/24/2002, EPA initiated a response to address oil seeping from the high cliffs above the Cut Bank Creek in and around the town of Cut Bank. Over the course of 4 months, the seeps were abated by temporary collection and disposal of approximately 1400 gallons of oil contaminated water. This order requires the parties to take certain steps regarding possible groundwater and soil contamination resulting from the discharge as well as a temporary and/or permanent collection system to intercept the seeps from the cliffs into the Cut Bank Creek.
