On September 30, 2004, Region 5 filed a combined Complaint/Consent Agreement and Final Order with Switchcraft, Incorporated (Switchcraft) at its Chicago, Illinois facility. The Region alleged that Switchcraft was storing hazardous waste without a permit or interim status; failed to have inadequate aisle space; lacked initial and annual hazardous waste training; maintained an open hazardous waste accumulation container; did not have an adequate contingency plan; and improperly stored used oil. Switchcraft agreed to resolve this matter with a payment of a civil penalty amount of $39,500.00 and make the necessary changes to come back into compliance.
