EPA requests that DOJ file an action against Anadarko Petroleum Corp. This case involves 40 separate discharges of oil into navigable water of the US from January 26, 2003 through June 14, 2004, and violations of failing to adequately prepare and implement the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan. The spills occurred as a result of mainly two types of problems; corrosion and equipment or mechanical failure.
