On February 28, 2005, Region III executed a combined complaint and Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) settling a Request to Show Cause issued to Honeywell International Inc., for violations of Section 103 of CERCLA and Section 304 of EPCRA. The violations occurred at HOneywell's Hopewell Plant located in Hopewell, VA. The violations surround Honeywell's failure ot immediately notify the NRC, SERC, and LEPC following its January 31, 2003, releasse of nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide. The parties have agreed to settle this matter for a cash payment of $16,755.00 and implementation of SEP valued at $66,990.00. The SEP includes Honeywell's purchase of a three (3) year contract for the installation and operation of an instant notification system for the Hopewell School District.
