On November 21, 2007, approximately 60-80 gallons of heating oil were discharged from an UST at the PETRO facility. A driver of an oil truck was filling the UST on a regular delivery and did not notice fuel oil coming out of the vent pipe onto the parking lot until he completed his delivery. The oil ran across the parking lot to an outfall approximately 300 ft away. The outfall discharges into the Pawcatuck River, which leads to Long Island Sound. There was a slight sheen visible on the surface of the River. There were no reports of environmental harm as a result of the discharge.
