This is an Administrative Consent Order pursuant to SDWA issued to the National Park Service regarding the Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii. The NPS operates 24 large capacity cesspools at the park which were not closed by the April 5, 2005 legal deadline. The violation involves the continued use of these cesspools and allowing the discharge of raw sewage directly into the ground. The Consent Order requires the NPS to close all of its large capacity cesspools no later than February 28, 2008.
