On October 27, EPA concurred on the Navy's Action Memo to mitigate unacceptable ecological exposures in a wetland at their Dahlgren site. The Non-Time Critical Removal Action will result in the excavation and off-site disposal of 125 cubic yard of metals-contaminated wetland sediment from the Gambo Creek Ash Dump. Excavated areas will be backfilled with clean fill and vegetated with native species of plants. The Navy's objective is unrestricted land use at this site. This Action Memo achieves the Federal Facilities Mission Measure target for the month of October.
