On March 24, 2025, the U.S. Navy issued an Action Memorandum (AM) for a Non-Time Critical Removal Action consisting of excavation and offsite disposal of zinc contaminated surface soil at Site 6 Operable Unit 14 known at the Excavated Area . The selected cleanup goal for zinc is 120 mg/kg based on a literature derived ecological screening value and will meet Virginia ARARs. Approximately 820 cubic yards (1,148 tons) of surface soil will be shipped offsite for disposal as non-hazardous waste at a Subtitle D landfill. A concurrence letter was issued by EPA on May 7, 2025.
