THIS IS A SUPERFUND COST RECOVERY/RD/RA CASE SEEKING PERFORMANCE OF ROD BY DEFENDANTS.
02/24/03: Supplemental Referral to DOJ on 02/24/03 requested that DOJ to file a cost recovery action in order to recover past and future response costs already or yet to be incurred by EPA for the oversight of the remedial action at the Buckingham County Landfill Superfund Site in Buckingham County, Virginia. This landfill accepted hazardous substances for disposal from Thomasville Furniture Industries., and Prillaman Chemical Corporation. Presently, Thomasville Furniture Industries, Inc., is performing the remedial work and Buckingham County is maintaining institutional controls at the Site pursuant to Unilateral Administrative Orders.
As of November 2, 2002, EPA has incurred a total of approximately $1.2 million at unrembursed costs.
