On June 25, 2002, Adelphia Communications filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the Bankruptcy Court. In June 2004, counsel for Adelphia approached EPA about entering into a Corporate Audit Agreement (Agreement) to audit its facilities and disclose to EPA. On July 12, 2006 Adelphia Communications Corporation (Adelphia) filed a 9019 Motion to approve the Settlement Agreement between the United States and Adelphia in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
On July 24, 2006, the Bankruptcy Court approved the Settlement Agreement.
On July 26, 2006 Adelphia submitted its final Audit Report to EPA, disclosing violations at 110 facilities resulting in negotiated civil penalties totaling $142,500 for violations of CAA, EPCRA, and CWA
