On March 29, 2006, EPA forwarded a Referral to the U.S. Department of Justice (?DOJ?), that asks DOJ to file a motion in the Northern District of Texas to have funds transferred into a Site Specific Special Account from a Custodial Trust, which was established as part of a bankruptcy settlement in In re: National Gypsum Co., Nos. 390-37213-SAF-11, 390-37214-SAF-11 (N.D. Tex.). The purpose of the referral is to obtain funds set aside to reimburse EPA for response costs incurred in connection with the Salford Quarry Superfund Site (?Site?). EPA has completed a remedial investigation (?RI?) at the Site and issued a final RI report. The Agency will use the transferred funds to complete selection, construction, and implementation of a remedy at the Site.
