Permits violated, facility in the process of closing down the incinerator. EPA & FDA agreed and signed the FFCA that outlines schedule for closure of above. An environmental site assessment (ESA) dated 3/25/2020 outlined the proposed schedule and options for a large scale renovation of the FDA NCTR campus buildings and infrastructure. The building that houses the remaining decommissioned incinerator covered by the final order is scheduled to be demolished during FY2025-2027. Budget funding for the renovation project has been allocated over several FYs beginning in 2022, and the project is expected to be completed by 2033. Based on the findings and schedule outlined in the March 2020 ESA, EPA considers the terms of the final order requiring demolition to be fulfilled to the best of DFA NCTR's ability; therefore, the case has been closed with no further action.
