## Summary

On April 27 the Director of the Hzardous Site Cleanup Division signed an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent (Settlement Agreement) to conduct a Remdial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) at the above-referenced Superfund Site (Site). Under the terms of th Settlement Agreement, twenty-three responsible parties will perform the RI/FS and reimburse EPA for its future response costs, including oversight costs, associated with preparation of the RI/FS. The Settlement Agreement represents Region III's first settlement negotiated in the context of the Superfund Aleternative Site Process ( SAS Process ). The goal of the SAS Process is to facilitate settlements and cleanups at sites that are equivalent to settlements and cleanups at other sites without listing SAS Process sites on the Superfund National Priorities List. In this regard, the activities conducted under the Settlement Agreement may result in multiple work plans for various parcels that comprise the Site, focused remedial investigation and feasiblity studies, parallel implementation of potential reuse opportunites with ongoing remediation and investigation, and other methods to address the Site's various areas of concern.
