THE 62ND STREET SUPERFUND SITE (THE SITE) IS LOCATED IN TAMPA, FL IN AN AREA OF MIXED RESIDENTIAL AND LIGHT INDUSTRIAL LAND USE.  IN THE LATE 60'S EARLY 70'S, ON THE  NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE SITE, MR. ADRIAN COLLINS, FORMER LANDOWNER WITH HIS WIFE, EXCAVATED A LARGE BORROW PIT.   IN THE MID TO LATE 70'S, MR. COLLINS ALLOWED SEVERAL TAMPA  COMPANIES TO DISPOSE OF VARIOUS WASTES IN THE PIT, WHICH     WASTE INCLUDES SHREDDED AUTOMOBILE PARTS, BATTERY CASTINGS,  WASTE CEMENT, KILO DUST, AND KILN LINERS.  THE DISPOSAL OF   THESE AND OTHER SUBSTANCES AT THE SITE HAS RESULTED IN THE   RELEASE OF HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES INCLUDING THE TWO PRIMARY    CONTAMINANTS OF CONCERN, LEAD AND CHROMIUM.   MR. ALVIN LINDSEY AND MS. MARIETTA BROWN ARE THE CURRENT LANDOWNERS, HAVING ACQUIRED TITLE IN 12/88.
