In 2006 EPA initiated a removal action at the Site which it completed in June 2007. Over 2,000 tons of material were excavated and removed from the Site for off-site disposal. The City of Jersey City, New Jersey (Jersey City) is the owner of the Site. Jersey City has entered into a Settlement Agreement with EPA pursuant to which it will pay to the EPA Hazardous Substance Superfund to resolve its potential liability with respect to the Site.
