Career Success Schools failed to conduct inspections and develop asbestos management plans as required under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). The charter schools have since had asbestos management plans prepared. Career Success Schools was fined $12,580 for these violations of AHERA but is required to pay $2,499 into the Asbestos Trust Fund because the penalty is larger than its cost of compliance.
