## Summary

On November 18, 2010, Region I entered into an expedited settlement agreement with the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts (Town) addressing a violation of Section 311(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act. On or about November 9, 2009, approximately 834 gallons of non-PCB dielectric fluid spilled from an electrical transformer when it was knocked over and damaged during a demolition project. The spilled oil was discharged to Leverett Pond through a storm drain. The Town took full responsibility for cleaning up the spill. Pursuant to the agreement, the Town paid a $7,000 penalty.
