Region 10 Orders Metlakatla Indian CommunityÂs Salmon Hatchery to Address Clean Water Act Violations (Metlakatla, AK)
On July 22, 2011, Region 10 issued an administrative order on consent to the Metlakatla Indian Community, Tamgas Creek Salmon hatchery. The Metlakatla Indian Community is a federally recognized tribe that operates the salmon hatchery. The tribe has been discharging hatchery waste without authorization under an NPDES permit. The order requires the tribe to submit a permit application, monitor discharges, and submit analytical results to EPA.
