After finding evidence of ongoing releases of chromium and lead into the environment during an October 27, 2010 inspection, U.S. EPA issued a RCRA 3013 Order this week to BarkenÂs Hard Chrome, Inc. in Compton, CA. The Order required the facility to analyze the condition of their chromium plating tanks, collect soil and groundwater samples, determine the extent of chromium contamination, and submit a plan to minimize potential releases of hazardous materials from the facility in the future.
