Summary

8/3/18 - DOJ and EPA entered into a settlement agreement with Anchor Glass Container Corporation to resolve alleged Clean Air Act violations at all six of Anchor?s glass manufacturing facilities located in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, and Oklahoma. Under the settlement, Anchor will install pollution controls to cut emissions of NOx, SO2, and PM; reducing emissions by 2,000, 700 and 100 tons per year, respectively. Additionally, Anchor will complete two mitigation projects: a project replacing, repowering or retrofitting older diesel buses with cleaner technologies in Jacksonville, Florida; and a woodburning appliance change-out project in Minnesota. Anchor will pay a civil penalty of $1.1 million - $550,000 to the U.S. Treasury, and $275,000 to both Indiana and Oklahoma, which were the only states to join the federal government in this action. The complaint and consent decree memorializing this settlement were filed on August 3, 2018, in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division.
