On November 30, 2011, Region 1 filed eight Clean Water Act Expedited Settlement Agreements under which the Towns of Chatham and Groton, Massachusetts agreed to pay $1,000 penalties; the Towns of Hamden, Hopedale, Lakeville, and Lancaster, Massachusetts and Auburn, New Hampshire agreed to pay $3,000 penalties and the Town of Dudley, Massachusetts agreed to pay a $6,000 penalty. The municipalities failed to submit and timely submit annual report(s) under the NPDES General MS4 Permit.
