This case involves two separate ammonia releases that occurred while Farmers' COOP Assn was applying ammonia at agricultural facilities. The first release of 747 lbs. of ammonia occurred on 10/31/2008 in a farmer's field in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, MN. The second release of 2812 lbs. of ammonia occurred on 11/17/2008 in a farmer's field in Werglund Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN. In both cases the amount of ammonia released was considerabley more than its RQ of 100 lbs. and more than three days had elapsed between the date on which each incident occurred and the date on which each release was reported to the NRC (11/3/2008 and 11/21/2008 respectively).
